An Eyelet and Entredeux ESP Dress

09/1/2017

Hello friends! *Portions of this post originally appeared on the Cali Fabrics blog* I absolutely LOVE using heirloom techniques to add interesting details to everyday clothing. Yes, they take extra time, but they really add that extra little bit of casual couture that makes your clothing stand out. For this dress, I used my TNT […]

The Wildfire

08/3/2017

Hello, friends. I find it difficult to start sharing the many recent makes that I’ve yet to photograph before delving into a recent “natural” disaster that happened on our ranch.  If you follow me on Instagram, you may already be aware that we had a fire hit our pastures.  This was the most frightening event […]

Sewing into 2017

01/4/2017

Happy 2017, friends. I can’t move on with my blog without mentioning the loss of my best buddy, Doc.  He passed away on December 30 at the age of 14.  Doc has been in many of my photos on this blog since it’s inception and he’s been at my feet as I’ve sewn everything that […]

The Inclusivity of the Sewing Community

11/13/2016

Before I get on with future posts, I have something to say.  I am not turning this space into a political blog and I probably won’t mention this again here, but I think it needs to be said.  I took outfit photos a couple of weeks ago and intended to begin sharing these and others last […]

Revisiting My 2015 Sewing Goals

08/18/2015

Well, hello there, friends! I’ve been a bit absent from my blog lately, but not from sewing.  I do have a few new dresses to share with you, but I haven’t taken photos of them yet.  My sewing time is taken at the moment by my last minute sewing of 1920’s ensembles for both my […]

Back to Sewing

04/14/2015

I felt this matter deserved a post rather than an addendum on other post.  I have not been sewing much lately nor blogging due to the illness and loss of my grandmother. My grandma passed away peacefully after almost two weeks in the hospital from heart disease.  She was 89 and outlasted my grandpa by […]

I started this project pre-pandemic and just finished it... I have been experiencing a lot of sewing lethargy, which isn't unusual considering our current circumstances here in the US. I'm trying to get my sew-jo back as I would just love to sit here all day sewing and watching TV. I have been embroidering and am finding escape in that. ❤️

My next embroidery project! I recently scored this My next embroidery project! I recently scored this 1938 State Flower Map embroidery transfer pattern and just spent many hours tracing it. It's going to be the focal point on a quilt that I'm planning to make with vintage handkerchiefs -- most of them from the same era. #embroidery #vintageembroidery #1930sembroidery #stateflowers #handkerchiefquilt #mccall609
My family recently received a new Purple Heart med My family recently received a new Purple Heart medal for my grandpa. My grandpa was a highly decorated and yet modest man and although he was proud to have received his service medals, he did not display them. I found most of them forgotten in a dusty box under his desk after he passed. Others I found in footlockers in the barn. I have yet to find the Purple Heart that he earned while being shot down over France during WWII. He had a bullet in his leg with remnants that remained for the rest of his life. Thankfully, we were able to apply for and receive another one. All Purple Hearts have the recipients name engraved on the back. The last photo was the last medal he received - the Prisoner of War medal (1987). He became a POW after his P-51D was shot down and he was captured by the Nazis. My grandpa and his military brothers and sisters are not "losers" or "suckers". They served the country that they love.
I don't know about you, but I need something to lo I don't know about you, but I need something to look forward to, so today I decorated for Halloween. It doesn't take me very long as I don't have very many Halloween decorations. Time to get spooky!

I also find it amusing that the "Welcome" sign is an oxymoron as no one outside of my bubble is welcome inside. 🤣 Materials from Dollar Tree and Joann's and a repurposed grapevine wreath. 🎃🦇🕷️🕸️🦹
