This year, I decided to make myself a special retro Christmas dress.
I was inspired by this Barbie Collector vintage Barbie.

I used Butterick 5556 to make this dress, altering the bodice to a v-neck and omitting the collar.

My versiou is made of emerald green taffeta with a red net petticoat and red lace on the edges of the petticoat on the cuffs of the 3/4 sleeves. I attached the petticoat to the lining. My first version used a red and green plaid taffeta sash with fabric that my MIL had, but it was not quite enough yardage to make the sash how I wanted it, and I ended up finding another red/green plaid fabric.

I also added a red zipper on the back (instead of the side zipper from the pattern) and a vintage red button that I found in my Grandma’s button box.
