I am a little lagging posting these photos, but I wanted to take some pics of the dogs in their outfits and had been waiting until it got a little cooler to take them as it’s been blazingly hot here. I finally took some today and thus am finally ready to post these a week later!
On June 28, my husband and I took two of our dogs (Doc and Rollie) to the Oakland A’s Dog Day in the Park at the Oakland Coliseum (O.Co). It was such an awesome day, even If I’m a Giants fan and not an A’s fan. We will definitely be going again next year! the dogs got all kinds of freebies and we met so many dogs and their people, plus got to parade around the field and sit in a special dog section. The game was sold out for dogs, with over 800 dogs attending. The only problem was that it was hotter than usual and we had to spend a lot of time on hot pavement. Luckily, I planned ahead and had a water dish plus plenty of water. There were dog water stations, but it was just really hot to be outside in the sun for so long. There were a lot of dogs who couldn’t take the heat and were being iced down after the parade. Our dogs were fine, but we were prepared for the heat and kept them hydrated and in the shade and even watered them down when it was needed. They had a good time, too, I believe, although it was probably a mind-blowing experience for them!
We do not have many photos of them in their outfits as they only wore them for the parade and we were told not to take photos on the field (which obviously, no one listened to, including my husband….). I made their jackets out of cotton broadcloth using McCalls 6455. I bought the iron-on letters at Joanns and the A’s patches on etsy. Rollie’s patch is vintage from the 70’s.
Rollie was having fun watching the game and trying to get people to pet him. Doc spent his time laying on the concrete trying to keep cool….
I am a Giants fan and this is as close as I come to wearing A’s paraphernalia
And… the A’s won that night against the Cardinals!
Here are some photos of them in their outfits taken at home:
Yes, Doc looks really happy doesn’t he?
Rollie is named after Oakland A’s baseball player Rollie Fingers (famous for his handlebar mustache). I was trying to get a photo of him with his mustache toy in his mouth, but he wouldn’t do it….
This is as good as I could get…
The next day we took the dogs to Fort Funston outside of San Francisco. 🙂
Doc likes to play with random people…
We hope you’re enjoying your weekend! 🙂

Hee, your dogs are precious! I miss my baby so much, she passed on last year. But, she had her own very extensive and stylish wardrobe as well.

Oh how fun! I second Anne’s comment — I would love to take our Elphie to something like this but she’d be a beast to deal with! 🙂

I wouldn’t take our old dog, Dusty, to it either!

That looked like so much fun- I started to drift off and dream about taking my little herd out and about- then snapped to- remembering what barking, yippy idiots they are! Must be nice to have civil beasties so finely attired!

It was so much fun! It was Rollie’s first trip, first time in a hotel room, first time at a ball game and first time at the beach. I think his mind was blown!
