Ready for a meetup down south?!

05/22/2014

The lovely Erin (Miss Crayola Creepy) is hosting a sewing blogger meetup

in LA next month and I have decided that I’m in!

LABlogger

I was pondering making the trip down there as it is about a 5 hour drive for me, but today I decided that I definitely would as I am so looking forward to hanging out in the LA garment district and fabric shopping with Erin, Melissa and Laurie.  The plan is to meet up and have lunch at Cafe Midi and do some shopping at The Fabric Store and Mood.  I’ve never been to any of the above, so it will most definitely be a treat for me.  There’s going to be a pattern and fabric swap and a whole lotta jibber jabbering and photo taking I imagine.  This will be my first sewing meetup and I’m really looking forward to it!

It will be so nice to have a little getaway for the weekend and head off to a venue I’m not terribly familiar with.  I’m a Norcal girl and rarely venture south of Bakersfield.  I’m in the Central Valley and the Bay Area a lot  and travel up to Sacramento and over to the Central Coast occasionally, but it’s a rarity for me to head down south.

If you ever wondered where I live in CA, this is my backyard.

I would be as pleased as punch to meet up with you in LA! It’s gonna be SEW MUCH FUN!  I truly cannot wait!!! 🙂

If you’re up for it, go to Erin’s blog and tell her you are coming before June 4th, so that she has a head count for reservations.

Happy Sewcializing!!!

I am so excited for you! Fabric field trip!

I grew up spending a lot of summers in Yosemite. I haven’t been back since we spent a week training for cross-country in college–multiple decades ago now. We’ve tried to get reservations a couple of times, but I just don’t dial fast enough.

Me, too, Annette!! If you come up during the week and hit them in the morning, you can easily get a campsite up on the Tioga Rd (White Wolf, etc) which are first come, first serve. The valley campgrounds are always crowded and always difficult to get into during the peak season.

When I found out you were coming to the meet up, I didn’t realize your in CA with all of your beautiful pictures! No, I don’t mean to sound like a stalker! I’m glad you’re coming and I’m happy to meet you. Wow, you’re driving really far!

Oooh, I’m in the midwest, but if there’s ever a blogger meetup in your backyard, I’ll be there! I absolutely LOVED Yosemite when my husband and I went there two years ago! We want to return sometime soon so we can see more things. I have a fantasy that I’ll train to hike up Half Dome, but my lack of commitment to training and my fear of heights will probably keep that from becoming a reality!

Haha! It would just be a “meetup” here as there are no fabric stores and the ones in the vicinity are chains. Not to exciting! I could promise good food and beautiful scenery though! 🙂 I could never hike up Half Dome…. I have a problem with heights so I will never be a rock climber. I do enjoy living vicariously through friends that have and seeing their pictures.

Cool. I’m glad you decided to go! This will be my first blogger meet-up too. I’m excited to meet everyone and spend the day in cool fabric stores! I’ve never been fabric shopping in L.A. and I can’t wait to see the awesomeness of Mood and possibly check out potential bridal fabrics. See you there! 🙂
