Last week, we picked up a litter of five Border Collie mix puppies that were abandoned at a local shelter. We split the litter and kept two while the other three went to another foster homo. We decided to keep the blue merle and named her Gertrude — Gertie for short. And the runt of […]
Kitchen Pantry Organization
I had been planning on doing this project for a while and finally decided to spend an afternoon actually DOING it and I’m very happy with the outcome. Now, everything is neat. organized and my dry goods and cans are easy to find. This is what my pantry looked like before: And this what my […]
The World War I Diary of my Great Grandfather, Burton Wilder Knight
As I have been doing genealogical research on my family, I’ve decided to start posting different things that I’ve found on my personal blog. I have actually gone VERY far back on my family tree and am currently tracing different lines and trying to get out of the ancient world so I can do some […]
Maggie has been adopted!
Today, our third foster dog, Maggie, was adopted! She went off to live on the coast by Monterey. What a lucky girl! 🙂
Our new foster dog, Maggie
Well, we’ve been quite busy with summer plans and recently returned from a trip to NYC. We’re now getting back to our routine and picked up our newest foster dog this last weekend at the Merced County Animal Shelter. Her name is Maggie and she’s a black & white long-haired Border Collie spayed female. We […]
Leinie has been adopted!
Leinie was adopted today! He now resides with two other red & white border collies in Visalia. He seemed so content and happy when he met his new pack. It’s definitely the beginning of his new life and I think he will have a great future. 🙂
Leinie is now online and ready to be adopted!
Last night, Leinie went on the Border Collie Rescue website to be adopted! 🙂 Leinie
Leinie Update!
Well, it has been almost two weeks since Leinie arrived. He was a very nervous, timid dog when he first came to us, with a lot of nervous urinating and hiding. He spent several days sitting alone in a lazyboy on our porch before he joined the rest of our pack and started interacting with […]
Goodbye, Old Friend
We have had a pretty brutal storm here this past week. Although we didn’t experience flooding like the valley did, we still got hit with a lot of rain, hail and winds. We really need as much water as we can get, so I’m definitely not complaining! In this last storm, we lost the 100+ […]
The Bucolic Life
I thought that as today being Easter, that it’s a great day to share this photo of a new calf born the other day and her momma. 🙂 Happy Easter!
The Beginnings of our Garden Venture
Last weekend I finally got our seeds started. It’s still been cold here, especially at night, and far too early to plant any of these plants in the ground. Most people I know buy vegetable plants and don’t start seeds, but we wanted some more unique and gourmet varieties of vegetables and hopefully we’ll get […]
Meet Leinie
Yesterday, I picked up our second foster dog, Leinie. He’s a short-haired red and white border collie (possibly a mix) and I don’t think he could be more than a year old, if that. He’s a small dog and very sweet, but he’s a little shy, nervous and scared. Leinie (named after one of our […]
Paddy is now adopted! :)
Our first BC Rescue dog, Paddy, was adopted today! 🙂 He went home with his new family and will now be living in Sacramento. His new momma is a wildlife biologist and an athlete and I’m certain that he’ll be very happy in his new home. 🙂
Paddy is now online!
It’s been a wonderful week and a half with Paddy! He’s been learning how to catch frisbees, bring them back, and drop the frisbee for us to throw again. He really is an exceptional athlete such a quick learner. I think he’d be great at agility or as a rescue dog. He is really good […]
Paddy’s First Week
It’s now been a week since Paddy came into our lives. A week full of one of the happiest, sweetest dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. 🙂 So happy and blessed to have rescued such a wonderful dog! He’s going to make a family very happy when he gets adopted. Paddy had an […]
Paddy, Day Four
Paddy has been adjusting well to life in our home. He’s getting used to being spoiled with love, attention, treats and canned food. Yesterday we took him out for the first off-leash and he and Doc ran around catching frisbees and balls and letting their energy out. It has been raining and snowing since Paddy […]
Paddy, Day One
Today I picked up our first foster dog for the Border Collie Rescue of Northern California. He is a red and white neutered male long-haired border collie. He was rescued from the Merced County Animal Shelter and found as a stray roaming around Atwater, CA. While I was there I also checked on a female […]
