Belle has been adopted!

04/10/2013

Our foster dog, Belle, was adopted yesterday! She went to live in Klamath Falls, Oregon!  Her new mom is a veterinarian and she now has a family of another Border Collie, a Pomeranian and four cats!  We wish Belle luck on her new adventure and hope she loves her new home. 🙂

My Living Locket

04/2/2013

I just got my Origami Owl Living Locket yesterday and I’m in love with it! I had never even heard of Origami Owl before my good friend Jo had an online party. I just love it and am looking forward to adding more charms to it. You can buy these online through Origami Owl, but […]

1946 “Owl Eyes” Challis Dress

04/1/2013

I am happy to finally write a blog post about this dress as it is one of my favorites! This 1946 design is sewn  from Retro Butterick 5281 and is made of Anna Sui “Owl Eyes” rayon/cotton challis.  It is fully lined with cotton batiste and it is a very comfortable dress. The belt is […]

Red Polka Dot 1940 Sundress

03/27/2013

I am SEW happy that I finished this dress yesterday!  This pattern has been on my “to-do” list for a while and I could not wait to cut into this red and white polka dot broadcloth either! I made this dress using Vogue 8812, a Vintage Vogue pattern from 1940.  This sundress is made of […]

Meet our new foster dog, Belle!

03/26/2013

This is our latest foster dog for the Border Collie Rescue of Northern California. Belle is a 1 1/2 year old smooth coat Border Collie female.  She is spayed and up-to-date on her shots. Belle came to us from Los Banos and was relinquished to our rescue by her former family who were inexperienced with […]

Planting Seed Starts & Refinishing a Bench

03/25/2013

Spring has arrived!  I have been very busy this last week with gardening, weed abatement and getting ready for the cows to return the pastures at our place.  As much as I love spring, green grass, and flowers – I abhor my allergy affliction and all of the weeding….. sometimes I wish everything was covered […]

Retro Inspired Eggplant Linen

03/15/2013

Yesterday, I had worn my eggplant colored linen dress (the ever trusty Simplicity 2444) and was reminded how I had made it to wear on our last trip to NYC last May. Every dress I wore on that trip was made by me. 🙂  We are going on a trip to the southwest this year […]

My 1940 Sew for Victory Dress

03/12/2013

I just finished my first sewing challenge!  Lucky Lucille’s “Sew for Victory” 1940’s Sewing Challenge! This worked out well for me as I already had the fabric and pattern and had been intending to make this dress.  My dress is Vogue 8811, a pattern that I had previously made for a client and now decided […]

Our foster dog, Trudie, was adopted yesterday! She went to live with her wonderful forever family in Ashland, Oregon.  Her new family had been looking at hundreds of dogs before they found her. Pattern Weights, Covers & Organizers

03/8/2013

Apparently, I really like organizing and making things for my sewing studio.  I also love pretty quilting fabrics with dressforms and sewing machines and beautiful dresses in which to make things out of. 🙂 I found a tutorial for these pattern weights on Pinterest: I used the same concept as in the tutorial, although mine […]

A wolf in sheep’s clothing

03/6/2013

I made this sheep costume for my Boston Terrier, Guinness, for his Halloween costume this last year. I made it out of some wool looking fabric I found at Joann’s in Simplicity 2827.  It was a pretty easy pattern to make, although cutting that fabric was pretty messy.  Definitely don’t be planning on going out […]

Joining the online sewing community and taking the Seamless pledge

03/4/2013

I have been lurking around a few sewing blogs for a while and read but rarely commented.  I’ve admired all of the beautiful garments and watched as other bloggers challenged themselves with sewing projects and contests.  I am a sewing stalker, I guess.  But no more! I’ve been sewing all of my life and I […]

Blue Ombre Sundress

02/28/2013

It may still be winter, but I am definitely getting ready for warmer weather!  Although, it is supposed to be in the low 70’s this weekend, so perhaps the warmer weather is NOW! 🙂 I decided to sew up this sundress with this awesome Marc Jacobs blue ombre panel fabric that I got from Fabric […]

Adding to my fabric stash!

02/27/2013

I am a bit addicted to buying fabric as of late…. and the cause for my obsession is Fabric Mart.  You would think that I work as a publicist there the way I go on and on about the deals I get there!  I have been buying fabric from there for about a year and […]

Sewing for the Kitties

02/26/2013

Well, I don’t just sew clothing…. sometimes I sew for the kitties! I’ve had this pattern in my collections for a while.  It is McCalls 5149, an out of print pattern I got from my MIL.  I bought the fabric and foam for it a few months ago, and the materials cost me more than […]
