Silk Faille 60’s Retro

02/25/2013

This was the second dress that I’ve made with the lovely retro inspired Simplicity 2444. This dress is made with midnight blue Anna Sui silk faille that I got for a ridiculous price from Fabric Mart during the deal of the day.  I think I only paid like $3.99.  What a steal for silk, especially […]

1960s Inspired Plaid Dress

02/22/2013

So, it was my intention to start blogging more of my projects. The thing is, I spend more time sewing and creating than photo taking…… Anyway….. I made this dress a couple of weeks ago from my favorite go-to pattern, Simplicity 2444.  It’s a very easy pattern with a vintage feel and it fits me […]

02/13/2013

This is sweet Lily. 🙂 Lily is a 4 year old spayed female Border Collie with a rough coat.  We have actually had Lily for a little over two weeks, but she had a bad reaction to her spay surgery, so we have been taking care of her and making sure that she was all […]

Meet our new foster dog, Zeus!

This past weekend we picked up our latest foster dog, Zeus. Zeus has been with our rescue since September, when he was relinquished by his former owner.  He lived on a cattle ranch, but didn’t do well as a working dog.  He was fostered by another volunteer since then and has now come to us. […]

12/20/2012

Well, I am a huge Gone With the Wind fan and GWTW by Margaret Mitchell is my favorite book and the film version is number one with me as well.   I am absolutely in love with the costumes.  In fact, the antebellum period is one of my favorites in fashion. I have been collecting […]

My 1955 Emerald Green Christmas Dress

12/16/2012

This year, I decided to make myself a special retro Christmas dress. I was inspired by this Barbie Collector vintage Barbie. I used Butterick 5556 to make this dress, altering the bodice to a v-neck and omitting the collar. My versiou is made of emerald green taffeta with a red net petticoat and red lace […]

Meet our new foster dog, Flicka!

11/30/2012

After our last foster dog for the Border Collie Rescue of Northern California, Cody, we took a little break from fostering as we have a kitten who needed to grow up a bit first.  A couple of our foster dogs had a predator instinct, so we were wary of having a dog like that around […]

Silks and My Love for Mystery Fabric Bundles

I just cannot miss the deals on exquisite fabrics that I get there and, lately, I’m addicted to buying the mystery fabric bundles….. This is the third time I’ve bought one.  The first contained a bunch of […]
